Last week I bought my very own laptop from my own money. Well, I have worked for it for the last couple of weeks now and I'm totally loving the idea that I now can buy my own gadgets. My uncle already gave me a laptop but it was an old one that he don't use anymore. I guess I'll just keep that one he gave me in my cabinet.
I bought a Dell Studio XPS M1640 from Accent Micro for P76,000 (whew!) which took almost all of my savings. Im a heavy gamer so I chose an XPS over other notebooks that are available on their gadget rack. Well, I had fun using it for the first few days since owning it. Yesteday, I experienced something that really bothered me.
A battery warning started popping out randomly even if the XPS is being charged. At first I thought it was just a simple thing and will disappear. But then everytime I open it, the battery warning appears. I don't know if the message is true as my battery meter still says the charge can go up to more than 3 hours.
Also, the Internet Globe on the lower part of the desktop which indicates if the computer is connected to the internet or not, is malfunctioning. The first few days the internet globe icon was there and everything was fine. Three days ago, I noticed that the globe had been replaced by a red X icon slashing a computer, indicating that I am not connected in a network. However, when I check Mozilla and other websites, I found that I'm still connected to the internet. Weird, really. The WiFi works pretty well too but it still shows I'm not connected to the internet.
I'm planning to bring it to Accent Micro tomorrow to inquire about the issues I encountered. I know they'll be able to replace it with a new unit since it's still a few days old with me. But I'm worried that they'll give me another failed model. Have you experienced something related?
