Recently, rumors of a military robot that can kill and consume humans spread over the internet. However, it was cleared that the robot, designed by the US military, can only consume woods and other materials and not humans or animals.
And even though this issue has been cleared, questions are still rising as to how far robots can go when it comes to technological advancement. Some say that in a few more years, robots will be a common walker in the street, and still some choose not to believe such age will come.
We humans have this fascination for the artificial intelligence. Perhaps that is the reason why almost all of the movies featuring A.I. or robots hits the box office. We just can't enough of the possibilities that lies ahead when a normal days means walking along with actual robots, humanoids, or maybe cyborgs.
Our technology is still not capable of creating a complete human duplicate, clones, but it is well enough to create robots that has the appearance of men, can do specific human tasks and some are even labeled as having the ability to think like humans.
Japan has made a lot of robots that can variety of tasks such as the calculator dog that can perform mathematical functions through hearing and sight. It can detect auditory commands and can see visual objects that are the same with others thus can 'count' how many are the given objects if front of it.
There was also a robot that can clean the house, open the door, open the appliances and can find by its own way electrical outlets to charge itself, when it 'feels' it is almost out of battery. And because of these advances, is there any way for robots or artificial intelligence to outsmart its creators? I just hope the fate of this technology is still far from evolving mainframe computers that developed the ability to think and decide on its own such as one from the movie I-Robot and Eagle Eye.
