When the Dell Adamo was released many months ago, I thought that that would be the end of those super thin laptops. After all, it was already measured at 0.65 inches, thinner than the MacBook Air's 0.76 inches, which was supposed to be the world's thinnest.
But Dell wanted something much thinner than that. This time around, it incorporated the XPS line, of all products, to the Adamo brand. It's very surprising in the sense that an XPS is a graphical powerhouse. It consumes more power than the typical Dell notebook and, hence, it needs to be thicker. I wonder how Dell was able to marry the two brands without compensating the power of the XPS.
And the thickness? It was, at its thinnest point, measured at only 9.99 mm (0.4 in) thick! That's nearly half the thickness of the MacBook Air. Seriously, I still have no idea how Dell was able to make a notebook computer out of that.
I am even more curious about the specifications of this laptop. I expect it to be much more powerful than the previous Adamo because, after all, it is an XPS. It's been around a month since the product was first revealed but they were teasers all the way after that. We have yet to see its power.
As usual, the design is commendable, far from the boxy machines that Dell has come to be famous for. In particular, I would actually want to see how the new hinge mechanism (the hinge was placed not directly below the display) will work out for the notebook. I seriously doubt if it will be even released in the Philippines, though. The original Adamo was priced at $1999. I expect this one to be more expensive and, well, you cannot really expect a model that expensive to be released here--though I can have my own order shipped. Can somebody please give me the money that I can use to purchase this notebook? Do drop a comment below!
