When Amazon released their ebook reader, Kindle, we all know that the age of bookkeeping and reading has come to a new style. Although it's still too early to say that future books will not be in the form of hardcovers made of paper anymore, we all know that day will come.
As a matter of fact, in response to Amazon's digital bookstore, Barnes & Nobles recently announced their own e-bookstore. The available ebooks for download are able to work on the latest devices at the moment such as iPhone, iPod Touch and all the Blackberry smartphones.
Also, as a response to Amazon's Kindle, Barnes & Nobles will also become the exclusive supplier of ebooks to the soon to be released Plastic Logic eReader. This device, according to B&N, will hopfully be able to give Kindle a nice competition in the market. Kindle is currently the no.1, preferred e-book reader.
This is actually the second time Barnes & Nobles will be venturing into the e-book field. They first experimented on selling digital books for Stephen King in 2000. It was not well received by the public due to the lack of devices that can hold it, which Amazon answered with Kindle. Barnes & Nobles stopped their e-book dreams in 2003 and now they are trying to revive their e-book innovation.
