Without a doubt, one of the most important utilities that an online freelancer should have in his career is a broadband connection at home. It is too difficult to maintain a sustainable online business if you have to rely on Internet cafes lining the roads, not to mention that it is more expensive.
Quite unfortunately, I’ve had the same problem for two days now. The cord connecting my computer to the antenna above finally failed and refused to give me the Internet connectivity that I need so much. Not only was this a great waste of money on fixing costs, but it was also a terrible hit towards my productivity
I envisioned myself to just stay at home that day, given that it was a Sunday, but instead, I had to drop by the nearest computer shop just to get some important tasks accomplished. It was a waste of time travelling, if I may say.
But hey, a freelancer has to do what a freelancer has to do. I was able to accomplish some work and scheduled when I will finish the others. It was quite difficult to force myself to do work in a certain period of time, but I thought that it would be a good exercise for my discipline and time managament. Hopefully, once everything is back to normal, I will be able to carry with me the discipline that I am trying to instill in myself today.
Of course, there will still be time for checking Twitter updates, Facebook wall posts, and my subscription feeds, but I guess in the meantime they will have to lie low as I give way to work, study, and a lot more work.
