Just how often do you check your email? I know people who do so every other day, when they are already used to opening a few dozen emails everytime they do. They even allot an hour or so just to read and answer the emails one-by-one.
For some others, however, checking one's email can be an addictive task. To a great extent, I can say that I am one of those people. These are the people who can't stand not checking their email every few hours or so, what more a few days that others do. Personally, when I do not have an Internet connection at home, I do find ways--even if it means dropping by an Internet cafe--to find out what's the latest mail that I have. Much of my work and my tasks are dependeng on my email account. I cannot just let it unread for days.
Sometimes, I just use my phone to check my mail whenever there are no other ways. Mobile email can cost you 10 pesos for every 30 minutes. Now come to think of it. If I check my email ten times every day, that means I connect to web email 10 times a day too, which can cost me around 100 pesos everyday or nearly 3000 every month. That's pretty expensive for simple mail checking.
That's why I was positively surprised when Smart, in partnership with Nokia, announced that they will offer unlimited GMail and Yahoo! Mail services for only around PhP 299 every month. The push messaging service, aptly named Nokia Messaging, will also include Ovi Mail and HotMail.
Right now, the additional PhP 299 monthly plan is only available Nokia E75 subscribers, though, so I guess we'll have to wait a little longer.
And when it becomes available for our handsets, that means a lot of savings, as the additional fee only translates to around 10 pesos everyday. Neat, right?
