"We're awed and amazed...to be celebrating one billion Firefox downloads. That’s one billion times in the last five years that you and the rest of the Mozilla community have made the choice to make the Web better.
But it’s not just about Firefox. We are the world. We are the billions. We are the ones who make the Web a better place to be. As we all start towards the second billion, let’s take a moment to reflect on the wonders of the Web that you’ve helped nurture and grow."
This is the opening statement of the OneBillionPlusYou website opened by Firefox to celebrate the more than 1 billion downloads since they opened in 2004. In just 5 years, Firefox users increased tremendously and they currently own more than 30% of the browser market share.
The site simply features things that is related to 1 billion such as 1 liners : "One billion seconds is roughly 31.7 years." and "One billion centimeters is approximately the distance from Chicago to Tokyo." Also, you can submit your own 1 billion liner to either Twitter and Facebook.
Also, Firefox is promoting their fans to use their Twibbon badge on your Twitter avatar. To use a Twibbon, just log-in to you Twitter account via the Twibbon page and it will automatically link your Twitter account to Twibbon and the rest is easy as 1 2 3.
If you don't want to use a Firebox Twibbon, you can select to thousands of other Twibbons that will represent the cause you want to support. Also, you can make your own if you can't find one that fits you. Some of the trending Twibbons are avatar tweaks for former Phil. Pres. Cory Aquino who died last week, IE Must Die campaign, LGBT Equality campaign, World Breastfeeding Week, I'm A Mac!, and of course, the FireFox 1 Billion avatar.
