Filipinos have always considered Sunday as the day of rest. Mondays through Friday, and at times until Saturday, students attend their classes while workers do their jobs either at the office or at the field. Sunday is always reserved as a 'family day'. For us, Sunday is the market day, a day for shopping.
Our Sunday starts early, between 4-5am. Around this time, the dogs are given a walk at the nearby park, then watering the garden plants, sweeping the ground both in and out of the house before taking breakfast around 6. Then me and my nephews will get ready for a whole day of shopping.
First stop is the local 'wet and dry' market, to shop for morning vegetables, fish and meat, which will be cooked for lunch. We love to do it in the morning because the supplies are fresh. Also, a morning started with shopping for food makes my day.
We'll be home around 9am, start cooking, rest and eat. Usually I let the kids sleep after lunch up to 3pm before I wake them up for yet another shopping spree, this time at the mall.
Afternoon shopping on the other hand is what the kids love the most. We shop for what we need for the whole week, kitchen stock, toiletries et al. It's also time to shop for what they need in school. Malls in the Philippines are huge and mostly complete with what you need so we don't have to go to different places to buy different things. Gotta love Department Stores.
Normally, it's SM we frequent for shopping, since we have two near our place. But for a change, we sometimes visit Robinson's or Glorietta and Trinoma which are a bit farther.
