How Secure The Web Really Is

By Freelancer at 07/21/09 11:01

We all are using the internet because we get to know a lo of things in just a few click of our fingers. You can literally travel the world just sitting on your favorite couch while facing your computer monitors. With all these good things the internet has brought us, there are obviously some minor things that are deemed as disadvantages of using the net.

The first issue that must be tackled I believe is web security. With free programs such as Google Earth, Street View, one can be stalked. You never know who else might be tracing the route to your house. Also, there are people who put confidential files on the internet that are very much vulnerable from hackers.

The latest incident would be that of Twitter's. More than 300 confidential documents were stolen from a Twitter employee's e-mail account by an unknown hacker. With current programs such as password decoder, password generators, hacking is just a piece of cake for these kind of people.

At the moment password security is the hottest privacy topic on earth at the moment. With the majority of people owning email accounts, community pages and websites, there is a big possibility that these accounts contain important information that will cost disaster to you when found by others.

There is no excuse for what had happened to Twitter. For something like this to happen in a giant web company like Twitter, what more to us ordinary people. Even though I doubt hackers will ever be interested into hacking my useless accounts, I still fear the day will come that I am sharing an access to my account with someone I don't know.
